Dear Parents/Carers

We hope that the following brief outline of the work that will be taught will be useful to you when you discuss his/her work with your child. We always welcome parental support so if you feel you or your place of work have skills which could support any of the units of work please let us know.

HELP AT HOME

The school’s homework policy recognises that pupils work hard in school and should be encouraged to develop other skills and interests out of school time. It also states that we feel that children of this age need the opportunity to play, socialise and relax. We do however value parental involvement and support in the following areas:

  • Reading: both to your child and listening to them read aloud
  • Spelling: lists have been sent home for the children to practise
  • Mathematics: learning of tables and number facts as appropriate and help with time telling too
  • Research work: when relevant to support topics.

SCHOOL BAGS

We value your support by ensuring that your child has a book bag or plastic wallet to carry reading books, letters home etc. to and from school to avoid them becoming damaged. We do sell bags in school at a cost of £2.50. If you are interested in purchasing one please go to the office.
