The school orchestra is made up of pupils who have had at least one year's tuition on an orchestral instrument. The orchestra performs an annual music concert at school for parents of children in the orchestra, and at the school's Christmas concert at Christ Church Fulwood for all parents. For the last few years, the orchestra has progressed through regional competitions to perform at the National Festival of Music for Youth in Birmingham.
Orchestra practise takes place on Friday afternoons in the main hall. The orchestra Wood Wind Group practice on Thursday lunchtimes in the main hall.
All children take part in our choirs. There is a Y3/4 choir, a Y5 choir and a Y6 choir which practice weekly during school hours. The choirs perform regularly throughout the year supporting school drama performances. The school choirs have the opportunity to perform at other events including Broomhill Festival.
Each year our orchestra play in a festival called Music for Youth.
In July 2014, after progressing through qualifying stages of the festival we played at the prestigious Birmingham Symphony Hall.
Some of the best orchestras in the world have performed at the Symphony Hall, so it’s a priviledge to be there. When we are sitting on the stage we feel very proud of our achievement
